The Lake Street Resurfacing project is part of the Village of Grayslake’s continued initiative to improve the infrastructure throughout the community and is necessary to improve the driving surface and reduce future maintenance costs of the roadway.

This project will be funded by a combination of Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) (80%) and local funds provided by the Village of Grayslake (20%).

Project Scope & Schedule

Proposed Improvements
In general, the Lake Street Resurfacing project work will consist of asphalt pavement resurfacing. It is anticipated that this work will be completed in several phases which will typically include:

  • Minor storm sewer system upgrades.
  • Various concrete curb and gutter removal and replacement and sidewalk improvements.
  • Existing asphalt pavement surface removal.
  • Paving of new asphalt driving surface.
  • Landscape restoration, as needed.

What to Expect
The construction operations will likely create brief delays in travel, and motorists should allow extra time for trips through the area. We do not anticipate any street closures or detour routes. Access to all homes and businesses will be maintained, however, there will inevitably be delays encountered throughout the project. As with any construction project, there will occasionally be inconveniences you may experience, but the Village and Contractor are working together to minimize the disruptions and nuisances.

The project team thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation this spring and summer. Motorists are urged to pay close attention to orange signs and flaggers in work zones, obey posted speed limits, avoid cell phone use, and be alert for construction workers and equipment.

Schedule
The Lake Street Resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, weather permitting, and we anticipate the project being completed by mid-August.
